All About ALLIES Club!

What Is Allies Club?

Are you part of or a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community? Are you interested in joining a fun club with other LGBTQIA+ students? Then Allies club is the club for you! It offers a supportive and judgement-free environment where you can express yourself and feel accepted for who you are! If you are an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community or have a friend who is part of it, you are welcome to join! If you are interested, come to the next meeting or see Mrs. Deetjen. Allies Club is for everyone!

Q: What is your favorite thing about allies club?

A: It is so accepting and so many people there are so fun!

Q: Why should others join?

A: People are accepting and don’t judge you.

Q: How would you describe allies club?

A: It accepts people for who they are!

Q: What makes it unique?

A: It is accepting and we donated to a charity.

Interview with Mrs. Deetjen

Q: What is your favorite thing about Allies club?

A: I love that it gives a group of people with common interests to meet and talk about things that can be helpful. And everyone is pretty funny! Once we even performed the hamilton soundtrack!

Q: What kind of things do you do there?

A: We talk about things that are important to the lgbtqia+ community and supporters of the community to talk about things that they think about and problem solve, like our fundraiser of selling skittles for homeless lgbtq youths who were kicked out of their homes.

Q: Why did you start the Allies club, and why should others join?

A: Mrs. Humphris started Allies a few years ago, and I decided to help her out because students trying to figure out their gender and sexuality is a very common thing I think about. Others should join because it is a great way to receive support if you are in the lgbtqia+ community or support friends that belong to that community you do not have identify as lgbtqia+ to be a member of Allies.

Q: What makes this club unique?

A: This club is unique because there is a wide variety of people across all grade levels who participate.

Q: How would you describe the Allies club?

A: A great bunch of kids who like to laugh have fun, and connect with one another.

Q: What is the most common misconception people have about the club?

A: That you have to identify as lgbtq to be a part of it is most likely the biggest misconception.

The Allies club made $182.81 with their skittles fundraiser! They are donating the money to 360 Youth Services.
